With the increase of orc encampments growing closer and closer to the outer walls, I choose to stretch my outer wall patrol to the far northeast side of the wall. Having asked the company of Reznik to come with me, everything seemed rather normal. Bear and black dire wolves. Though on our way back we came across a rather larger than normal orc camp. Though most of the more common foot 'soldiers' that fell to blades. What concerned me was a larger smarter orc, though I would have tried to capture it, we engaged it in combat as it threatens us with more than normal understandable words but their 'unique' tone was still thick. Neither less to say, the threat was removed the camp destroyed. I would be strong to suggest careful exploration on the outside of the walls now as the orc threat seems more active. We both came to the conclusion that this 'intelligent' than normal giant orc was a possible leader figure or something a little more different. Or, just their champion we don't know hence the attempt to try and capture it but failed.

Meriel

Fire tortured, and shot dead by Richard's crossbow, brought back to un-death to resume her work for the undead. Roaming around town, stolen arms and items from various locations leaving a little calling card and well and doing general undead things.
Elisa
After the death of Lucain she has become even more withdrawn away from everyone else, and more so avoids everyone unless a undead assaults happen what she will try and help out in any way she can. Still trying to remain in the church and the watchers good side. Resumes her self training of the healing arts while limiting her magic use, takes up more physical mean of protection. Taken into question with the rest of the town for a being what escaped from the crypts of the church and got into combat with. Elisa tried her best to explain what she saw to Richard regarding magic. She was questioned of the book of Lucain's by a Mr. Liam, she wasn't much help to the man.
Naomi
trying to fit into the watchers order, doing her duties of protection and laying the dead back to rest. strange encounters with various undead pushed her into making a patrol search with the other watchers with Hemrod's go ahead. she lead the group out to where she first saw them, only to see shadow fiends raise and attack leading them to a black rock what was destroyed and a open portal where a deamon spawned. One of the smart undead showed up and vanished just as quick saying blackwells time was ending. now resumes her daily tasks of patrols, and writing reports of undead activity for Hemrod.
Fiery orbs watching the house, Betrayal sat in the dark hidden from mortal eyes. Her bones creak slightly on her blood red blades, dripping with poisons. She pulls the hood over her burnt eye sockets a little more as she turns and leaves. The fire dies down leaving them as dark pits as she turns her attention to the town. Her simple mind restored, the need to kill her own version of revenge on those that did this to her. A hiss leaks from her teeth as she fades back into the night. Something told her The flesh inside the house was not worth the effort. Stalking through the tree Betrayal let her thoughts go as that's what happened more often then not, the need to kill always on her mind. To purge and clean the flesh from the lords and masters land. She moved by the lesser dead as they didn't even seem to notice the black robes move by, before coming to the forest where she stayed most of her time waiting for prey to come to her. Deer, bears, and wolves moved through the forest around her. Betrayal stopped for a moment as she watched them, her pits turned to them. Her black leather gloved hand touched over chest catching the hole of the rib cage a little. Her eyes flare back to fire as anger took over her simple desires. Lashing out at the wolf with a pain strike and the beast howled and fell to the ground. The others ran off leaving their fallen to her. She came out then her blade drawn, she fell on the creature as she started to eat it alive tearing it's fur and skin getting at it's innards quickly as she feasts tearing flesh free and eating. Blood dripping from her jaw as she eats. Leaving very little remains she looked down before getting up pulling the hood back over her skull and continued her hunt in the dark. " Venom" a single word uttered, fading back to the dark once more for her next prey.
As night started to turn to day. Betrayal, unsuccessful at her hunt started to head back to the barracks to her coffin to rest the day. She moved by the skeleton guards who guard this area while they are resting. Entering the building she was greeted with blood and the re connection to the black stone. She moved down to the basement as she watched the area small fiery orbs scanned the dark seeing that Carnage nor Famine where moving around yet. As she turned to her own room and entered seeing her chest and coffin. Climbing into her coffin as she hissed again. Letting her simple mind go, falling 'asleep'. Her mind then wondered back to when she was alive faceless people she couldn't remember voices without words around her. Before seeing Kraven back at that night, in the inn. Mind skipping ahead to the day she died feeling the pain again in her bones and she burns. Shifting again as she comes back to the remains of her body, her finger slides into the hole in her skull as soot comes free on her gloves. Hissing once more " Richard..." a name she remembered.
Betrayal sat up in her coffin then as she held her thin bones that made up her hand over the black cloth then. Her mind still the basic need to kill but something was there now. Getting up she pulled off the Black cloth and the black cursed leather under it. Her hand going to the hole in her chest were Richards bolt shattered bone and pierced where her heart was. Feeling the pain again, her head raced again as her sockets burned again in a fiery orbs. " My lord..." she started as she moved out from her room and looked at the others doors. Before going to the stash box and picked up some nightshade and the correct tools. Moving to the other room she started to work on other poisons. She felt alone again, empty. Meriel was poking through in the black of her being. Betrayal hissed in annoyance, taking out her red blades and rest them carefully on the table beside her as she started to re coat the cursed metal. 'Rake, Craystar Rake' a name came to her head then as she stopped confused. " Betrayer" the word heavy with hate " Lucain Cain...." Name coming to her mind then as she growled " RICHARD!" she howled in pain then as she felt on fire again as her tools and blades crash to the floor. Her finger digging into the holes in her skull " My lord." her hands pulling free then as she falls back into herself. The ash clings to her gloves a little then as the names fade, faces, Merial all fade back to darkness as she recollects her things from the floor and continued her work for tonight hunt.
It was getting dark, and starting to get a little cold. A lone figure quickly moving around the apple orchid picking up a few good apple to eat for later. Hearing the moans and groans from the zombies who detected that she was there, quickly packing away a few more apples. it was to far from the town and she knew that there was a building near by as she made her way quickly to it now. A zombie stood between her and the house then as she quietly took out her war hammer, the zombie shuffled around and made a loud groan seeing her. moving ahead in it's shuffling way as she raised her hammer, as it got closer reaching out it's rotten arms. 'Thud' the hammer coming down and across as the head snaps of on impact and splatters across the ground, 'thud' another hit sending it to the ground as she quickly moved around it and into the house. magic locking the door with a quick spell as she looked at her blood stained hammer, Eli sighed "to close".
Looking around the main room, a fire place with no fire as she quickly fixed that with a fireball. The room comes to life in the light, chairs and tables line the walls. Two doors leaning to bed rooms she guessed on the far wall. "Guess am staying here for the night" she said quietly getting off some of the under leather she started wearing, folding it on one of the tables. Getting out some rags she quickly cleaned the hammer head and tossed the rag into the fire. leaning it on the wall, "am sure they wont mind me staying her for the night" going to the back rooms and went to see what was inside. The first room had a nice double bed, " Oh?" looking at it. walking over to it she runs her gloved hand over it "looks soft" climbing on it then, as she bounced a little. Looking at the door, " Should keep out the deadies as none of them know magic" pulling back the bed sheets then. " I'll just see who owns this later and pay them for the night" climbing into the bedding and pulled it back over " Just a night... next time I wont run it so close" letting her eyes close slowly.
Before opening again, "right... fire place..." crawling back out from under the covers, sliding her feet to the edge of the bed and hopped out. Opening the door she saw the fire still going. walking over she looked at it a few moments before putting it out. Letting the dark fall back into the house as she moved back over to the door feeling around for it. Crawling back into the bed, still hearing the shuffle and undead outside as she looked out the near by window. Pitch black over then the moon light reflecting off the near by water " Would say it's pretty but..." pulling the blankets back over herself " Nothing really pretty anymore here..." rolling onto her side back toward the door as she looked at her hands. feeling the leather weak from her constant use of magic, "going to have to see if Althy can make me a new pair soon" she mumbles a little.
letting her eyes close again, this time sleep sucking her under. it was the same dreams; she was back in the town before, she knew these walls and this scent. She was down in the basement again shackled to the wall, 'crack' the whip hitting her back again as she lurched forward a little feeling the warm blood running down her back as she looked back. Seeing a shadow figure, 'crack' she wont give him the satisfaction of a scream. 'crack' then chains let go then as she slides down the wall, it hurt but she wouldn't cry. Two more shadows came over and grabbed her hands holding them on a table still coated in blood from last time. 'crack' the whip now finding her hands, 'crack' flesh tearing away. Bone starting to show 'crack crack crack' Eli finally letting out a cry as she tries to pull her hands free only to be held fast. "Guardian Filth" the voice rang out around her not really from anyone in particular.
"Please no, am not" Eli sobs a little, " We saw you try and raise the dead you monster" venom words spat in her ear. 'Crack' Eli winced a little " Mom... Dad" she whimpered a little more watching her hands be ruined. " You tried to use necromancy!" the words like the whip smashed into her, " you tried to raise them as undead" Eli closed her eyes then opening them.
New place, no it was home. Dead were walking killing everyone around her, locked in her room with her mom and dad. No they were dead to, brother was out fighting with the church trying to hold them back. " Daddy? Mommy?" Eli was much younger now trying to wake her parents "wake up please" she sobbed. Her hands glowing a little as she touched them " Please wake up" trying again as magic tendrils warp around the corpses and sank into flesh.
The bodies starting to move a little, "Mommy?" looking at the remains of the women as it lifted it's self up and looked around moaning. "Daddy?" he was already up and moving around as best as he could with only one leg before they turned to her and moved over slowly holding out their arms. Eli doing the same as they held her in a loving embrace, blood pouring out from wounds soaking into her little dress. The door smashed open and the church men were standing there, they yelled holding up there blades and axes. Eli made a scream, the undead got up lurching forward. More screams of pain as Mommy and daddy kill the men, ripping them apart. Sudden pain, Eli falls forward. Brother standing behind her with the back of his blade handle where Eli's head was. The undead fall apart then, the remaining church men take Eli then.
Eli wakes up screaming and sweaty as shes now sitting upright. looking at her hands, trembling. "Just a nightmare" looking outside the window beside the bed as she turned her head back now looking up at the roof. " Why brother?" she said softly, " I could have brought them back, if only I was stronger". Eli sighed then as she got up again walking out to the main room then relighting the fire place. sitting on a chair, looking into the fire. " No... Never again... it was evil... wrong" she said then wiping away a tear as it rolls down her face. " Brother... Lucain... mom... dad..." watching the fire dance around. Hours pass then as day light peeks in the window, Eli haven't found no more sleep that night. Gets up and looked at the door, unlocking the magic that held it, " It's why Brother took me away from them... why we came here... to start a new life... now he's dead... and I don't know what to do" putting out the fire again as she collects her things putting everything back on.
looking at the inside of the house again, "I'll pay who ever own this place back" shutting the door behind her as she moves back to town. Mind heavy with nightmares, thoughts, and magic.
Coming in from my patrol for the night I saw one of those black robed figures running into the forest, it was carrying something that looked rather heavy. Paying no mind to it at the time I checked into the watcher's barracks, to pick up a new spear due to my own blunting to the assault of the orcs to the north fort. Only to find that The arms are gone replaced by a rotten corpse with a single nightshade pushed into the chest cavity. I also went down to the fort, and had a look around to our food storage to see; another rotten body with a nightshade. The rotten flesh sadly spoiled the food and meet that we had there, I'll keep my eyes open for these monsters.
*Mails Kraven a silver plated Human skull*
We're not really rping to the seasons to really start with.
It would add to the rp setting I think, as the few of us have helped stock the town for this sort of thing. As well as give rp to trying to survive yet another deadly threat of cold and blizzards.
Eh, Been dodging this topic for awhile due to... camera shyness and no up to date but...
Yeah...
* A rolled up scroll sitting in Hemrod's office on his desk*
After talking to you and getting a group together we met up at the fort, to much mush surprise Corrin and Alyson showed up as well as Derek and Mark. I gave them the run downs of what to expect as well as the possible foes we would be meeting out there. I also gave any thing that I learned myself from watching them as I said in my last report to you. They seemed ready and eager to get going, I made sure every one had what they needed before leading them out into the forest to the last known location of them creatures. Shades were there leading us further west the the first location, we came across a black stone well of some sort there. It seemed like another source for the ghosts and shades where coming from, as weary as I was about going near it or around it Derek quickly smashed the well to rumble with his hammer. Maybe just my paranoia, but if something would have happened to my charges...
The shades then seems to be getting more aggressive from a little more south location as we cleaned them up one by one. I feel like my information as well as suggestions kept us out of harms way for now. What happened next was more and more curious. A Black pulsing portal was found in the ground, we avoided it for now as more shades ambushed us as well as the Shadow man. It spoke again, though I still didn't understand it myself other then it said our end was near. It then spawned countless lesser shades, two of us were over run myself being one. When I came back around the others didn't seem to hurt, and the portal seemed to be getting stronger. Corrin thought it would be fun to drop his axe in, Derek various tools and materials. All this seemed to have done was make it stronger, before a deamon crawls out and attacked us. The shadow man re appears then behind it.
We were able to fight and 'kill' it before we surrounded the Shadow figure, it fled into the portal before it closed. The deamon body then rotten away, I suggested that we head back to town now before it got dark. On our way back we clean up any lingering shades from the mass. Even come across a orc brute that was taken down. I don't think I would be alive now without them to write this letter and reports without them. Being there with me it really helped, it makes me feel safer that we were able to push this back for now and protect the town. This does worry me though about these stone wells and this black portal, I'll keep my eyes open for any of these reappearing objects or any more of these things that crawl out. We couldn't find away to close these portals yet.
There was no other sign of the strange zombie, but I know it's out there.

As instructed Hemrod, I went to the west forest to start to the search and research of our enemy. it seemed quiet enough during the day light. So I found a nice clearing where the birds were feasting on seeds and worms, I started the hunt there. As night neared I expected to have some walkers around, I could hear the damn things out in the dark. Night grew more heavy and the light was gone, being to stubborn I didn't use my own light from my lantern favoring that of my shield more. That's when it started; They were coming, my guess drawn to the birds blood on me.
The Great Shade:
I didn't see this one that much as it was hard to see it's outline in the dark night, it remained closer to the trees then I was. I could feel it watching me as I fought off basic zombies but I couldn't see it. Then it came out in front of me, bloody thing walked right out of the shadows. It started talking, something about shadows. I couldn't understand it really. The shadows start to move around it, and from it's hands crawled Shades. If I had to guess it's a shade summoner or some greater thing. Wears some sort of what looks like amour when it's in it's humanoid form, not that of the black robed ones. It turned into a Shade once when I encountered it, sadly to wrapped up in it's summoned shades it slipped away. It didn't have any direct combat with me. It's a humanoid shadow creature that can summon shades and talks.
The Shades
The shades summoned from the 'greater shade' look like shadows come to life. Ghost, spirits, magic? I don't know. They are partly see through unless you really focus on them. They look almost humanoid like with a shape of a head a torso two arms, but no legs instead a long spine. It makes ghostly like sounds, and has strong magic. Notable ones are lightning poison fireball heal and teleport. The Greater Shade summoned three of them on me, I was able to hold out against two of them before succumbing to the third. Once I was able to collect myself once more the Shades were gone.
Blood Covered Zombies
I came across two of these, blood coated zombies like they are just ate or attacked something. They are red tainted 'skin' and move and act like any other zombie would.
Rotting Zombie
A very powerful zombie that has a green tint to it's skin, I was a fool to try and go up against it in close range melee. I was badly poisoned just by it touching me. It's got something on it's skin. I would try to advice using bows and cross bows when coming across this zombie or have a lot of strong cures. With worm eaten hands so bloated with noxious gasses and scarred by decay, it causes their flesh to hang off in ragged strips. These creatures are deadly poisonous.
Strange Zombie
This 'person' I came across heading back to the fort. It.... I don't know what to say, it looked like a man. Stood like a man acted like a man, even tried to speak but it's words to rotten to fully understand. All that I was able to get was " Help me ". I didn't know what to do, it was a man Yellow tainted skin. if I had to make a guess a zombie infected victim. maybe the past victim of those bloody zombies, I warned it not to come near as it stared at me with white eyes I couldn't see a pupil or iris's. Something is very wrong with this man, it wasn't hostile. it wondered back into the forest as I warned it to keep it's distance. did I make a good choice with that action, I don't know, could he have been saved again I don't know.
Black Robed Figure
I also came across one of those black robed zombies, wondering the forest. almost aimlessly before it caught scent of me, then it was gone. it vanished into the trees and growth. A painful stab turned me around to face it, fiery orbs for eyes as it hissed. I instantly felt sick as if poisoned, avatar help me it hurt. I took a swing at it as it hissed at me backing off for a second before killing a near by animal and said something. The fractured arm bone healed as it kept with the attack " Burn Flesssh" it screamed as it took out a black bow with black arrows. I ducked behind a near by tree about to lunch a counter attack, it was gone.
As I see these beings more and More I'll Keep my reports up to date with anything else that we could use.
500 Feathers Have also been deposited into the fort crates.
I am afraid that I need rest after these battles and will try and get a group together when I am able. We will hopefully be able to find these new strange creatures to study watch and slay to make sure that the dead stay dead. Avatar bless my Shield to protect my Brothers and Sisters.
I go back to town today, what I saw was rather interesting. A town gathering in the church for some sort of mass, I walked away not bothering with that sort of thing. What happened next peeks my attention seeing the girl Elise being taken out of the Church in the hands of the watchers. How interesting. When the rest of the towns folk come out it was nearing night and the darkness was creeping in. Sweet darkness of emptiness, and with it came the black rain.
The black rain is falling,
Destroying all in its path
Staining their souls,
Playing out its evil wrath,
None can escape
As it tumbles down-wards,
Spreading the evil
To gather in hoards,
I don't quite what came over me as I never heard those words before, I had a few turn to look at me then. Not sure why, had they not heard them before or was it something else. I payed no mind till Lucain walked up, asked me if I was okay. I could feel the lips curl into a grin then on my face, he was concerned but Lucain was a quick thinker and painted me as a drunk in front of the others. I frowned at first wanting to kill the twit, but then I got thinking to just play along with it. Before long Him and I left town to the inn, where I talked with him. He was still going on about Rakes missing, another grin forms.
As the sky turns to black
The red lightning shall flash
The ground shall burn
The world turns to ash,
The black rain continues,
Across the land,
People came in, nosy mortals. All these interruptions of comings and going. All looking for Alth, no I wasn't buying it. There were there watching me Judging me accusing eyes. Cut them out, it sounded like a good idea to me. But they thinned out and I was sure that no one else came in. Holding his hand in mine, no escape. My blade pierced my overlaying hand on top of his as I feel it go through my hand. The infected skin gave no pain as he felt and reacted to it. Just as Rake did, surprised. I watched his face morph into pain, twisting with fear for a few seconds. The sweet pain and fear, I want more. I Tell him that Rake will not be joining up any more, I tell him I ran my dagger into his black sweet loving heart. Lucain flinched again, fear?. It's okay my dear Lucain, fear not me yet. You're day will come but not yet, for now I need you're help to help me help them. I pull the dagger from the table as more faces come into the inn, I notice the same face walk in the door. His eyes, some one was home, he knew. He knew what I was doing some how.
Creating chaos and feelings
Of which, we can never understand.
We watch it coming
See it plummeting from the skies,
Do nothing to prevent it
As the world around us dies.
I go back to town, and everyone else looked at me, again judging me. They knew they all knew, something. What, how?. They start mumbling to each other, what are they saying is it about me, do they know what are they saying. A paranoid feeling growing, this is what Rake was feeling. Oh my sweet Love, I understand. They gather around me talking with each other still. They know. I get up to stand and was quickly stopped by that man. As I turn around A crossbow is pointed at me. I felt empty then again no fear or worry. I look at Lucain, He told them. He told them, he must have. Betrayal, he will die. They take all my weapons but the twin black bows, I will not part with them to anyone but them. I go to the church prison in shackles, I had not been down here since that day so long ago it seems. The lead me to a dark room, the darkness welcoming it's cold embrace. The cuff my hands above me to the wall, that man sits in front of me. He knew.
For the rain is our sins
Those events we create
The damage and pollution
Things we have come to realize
But now it's too late.
The damage is done,
The questions start, I will not give up my masters to this man, nor my plans. He wants me to confirm my crimes, no not now. As we spoke he seemed to grow a more sinister grin, who was he. The two watchers at his back watching him do this, before they leave. As they leave, that's when my Hell started. Questions start, with my lack of answers, he pulls a tooth out, the cooper taste of blood. I told him of the note of the location of the silver sword, but not of it's direct location. No I can't. Pain then as my foot burns in oil and coal. It hurt, why did it hurt. I am still alive, feeling the pain. Next he asks me about the enemy, he asked about them. Again my lack of answer seemed to displease him, by other leg burns. Pain, again eating away at my mortal flesh. Make it stop taking it away, The flesh it's a cage a painful cage. He asks me where the sword is, I give him no answer then as he smiles evil in his eyes. He threatens Jake, no not Jake anyone else but him. I try and buy time, keep his attention on me. I am covered in flames then eating my flesh. My legs, my chest, my face, my hair, and my eyes. I fall into darkness as the mercy of water puts out the fire. This was the Fire that Kraven had spoken of. This was the time, I was ready.
The rain shall descend,
We can only watch it,
As it brings our end.
I told him then, nearly everything he wanted. Though I could not see him, I could feel his pity. Pain then, my chest as my heart bursts under the head of a crossbow bolt. I didn't need it anyway it was already broken and useless. The sharp pain and a bolt finds by mind, already twisted and malformed. Something tugged at my soul then, as I slipped away into blackness. Meriel Kelling was Gone.
I sit where I killed him, my mind still showing me the image. Though the blood long cleaned, I can still scent the tiny amount that soaked into the wood. I can feel it eating away inside me, the hunger pushing every thought I have away. I look at my hand now, it's sick dead skin spreading. Soon it will kill me, make me what I hate and fear the most. The regret is eating away at me, faster then this infection it. I don't want to die with this broken heart in my chest I want it gone removed, destroyed. I feel even more alone now with you gone, this should have been you here writing these in you're book that you're always writing in not me. I don't want this life anymore, there is nothing. I think about what the armored one had said A few night ago in the Tavern outside town.
I Think I understand what he meant now, all of it. Am I ready?, Has the time come?. More questions without answers, I feel like I am ready to do what ever his plans are for me now. I wasn't ready when he first called, my humanity was to strong to give up. My love for you kept me from hurting you then, no not for their amusement. I wanted to protect you from them. I feel that I have, I hope they can not reach you now. I hope that you are safe and without fear. But with you gone, you took something with you. My humanity, I have nothing left but a rotting husk, empty and meaningless. Now I look for something, will this gift give me this?. Have I given up my humanity to save Humanity?. More questions then answers again. I am lost, I need guidance from something. The Avatar has forsaken me. I surrender my mind now empty, my body rotting, a broken heart to this cause as the owner was killed. My soul is already claimed and not mine to give, to who ever wants to take it.

I go back to the hide out again to see how well Rake is adapting to his wild side out here. I knock on the door, as I hear movement inside before the door opens. Rake looked at me then before backing back to his desk. I enter the room and lean on the one table as I usually do now. Silence sinks around us, as he's scribbling something on the paper. I wait for him to finish as he looks up at me then. We make some small talk and he ask then how my tasks are going, my reply was that I couldn't find them just yet. Rake then asks me to go get some paper, easy enough. Knowing I could stop by the church and see if I can find the one person on the list I need to talk to.
I wish I could know if the directions that I take, and all the choices that I make won't end up all for nothing
I find him in the church, just as Rake said. Thin man, black wired hair, sort of reminds me of Rake to start with. He introduced himself as Lucian Cain, I gave him my name. He asked me what he can help me with, I tell him am just looking for paper. He seemed confused, I then very carefully try and get him to see of our common friend connection between us. I think he caught on then, as he leave the church and go back to the other building where we had a talk. A trade of information and that sort that Rake likes to get his hands on. None of it very much concerned me but I listen to the details. Not till Elise's name came up did I perk up to it, odd that this name would honestly. As he had nothing more to share I turn to leave before he catches my attention again making a sign with his fingers.
I knew what he wanted, payment for the information trade. Something that Rake didn't say, nor give over to Give Mr. Cain. I told him that I would come and find him later to Pay him, he seemed to have shifted like he didn't want to see me later. Did I scare him?, I sort of hope I do. I don't trust his sort. I leave town again, the crushing walls then eating away at me or so it felt like. As I move by the body rotting on the wind flies now feeding at it. I stare at it for a second getting closer, my limb joints starts to hurt where the connect to my torso. Nothing, that empty feeling or the lack of emotion.
Will the ending be ever coming suddenly?
As I leave town I head back to where Rake would be waiting, and we exchange the information. I bring up the fact that Cain expected to be payed, Rake taking out some gold coins handing them to me then. His hand touching mine, something stirred within. I put the gold in my bag then as I turn to watch him some more. Silence, it was growing thick again. It was fine with me I liked the quiet and the dark, helped ease my mind of something else that was growing at I watched the man in front of me. He was looking back at me as if he had something else on his mind as well. Still the silence hung in the room. He makes a movement then, gesturing for me to come over. I do without much thought on it as I watched his face. Still blank, a mask. Just like my own hiding his thoughts, Rake was always so hard to read.
Another conversation strikes up, I can't recall what it was as it was reduced to a mumble to my head as I watched his chest moving slightly under the leather tunic he wears. That feeling crops up again. He gets up moving around the Desk so I can better see all of him. Every detail become more and more clear. Word became unclear to be, only the blood rushing past my eardrums, thump thud thud thump thud thud. I blinked then looking back to his face seeing that he was still talking to me, I missed everything he had just said. But, I didn't ask him to repeat and just nodded my head in agreement to what I didn't hear.
Next he hugged me, it was unexpected for someone like Rake, I stiffened quickly hand on my kyriss. He just held me then, there was that feeling again, that feeling I didn't think I would see again. A quick arm and wrist movement and the poisoned kryiss moves quickly toward his chest piercing the leather digging for his heart as she held him trapped. Pushing him into the wall and held him here, He blinks once as he feels the dagger entering him, his body unsure to the reaction he starts to panic beneath her, his voice letting screams of pain. Moving to the side of his head whispering in his ear " It's okay my love.. you are safe now" I say. My voice startles even me, why would I say such words.
Will I ever get to see the ending to my story?
The dagger sliding deeper it's ridges cutting meat as poisons soak into his blood stream numbing him " No one can hurt you anymore... no reason to be afraid". Was this me The real me that was just unmasked or the feeling that were caged set free. The hunger peaked at the small of fresh blood. I need more fresh blood, Give me more blood. His eyes go wide as he gasps for breath, his body slowly being paralyzed, his last words uttered softly.."My.. love...?". I Hear his words, he seemed just as startled by my own voice as I was. His body starts to shake uncontrollably as the poison grabs him, his eyes wide in fear and panic as he stares at at me. I could see him dyeing, why was he dyeing. Had I not done enough to see him alive, what changed. Something happened, is this real?.
Letting the dagger go pushing it more with my chest as I reaches for him lifting his upper body up then holding him to my chest tightly like a lovers embrace " you are safe now my love... they can not take you from me now" holding him as I brush his hair from his face " I will save you from you're fear... I will save you from them" *kissing the top of his forehead " I will save you from you're self" tightening my hold on his neck now with my arms. Only then did I see see the sickening dead flesh of the palm that Hew had feed from. Was it the infection doing this, yes it had to be. This isn't me is it?. " Soon we will be together for ever."His movements stop as his eyes remain open, staring at me... his whole body stops suddenly.. no breath or movement nothing at all.
So when and how will I know?
I feel the stillness as I loosen my grip slightly* "They will not have you" * reaching between them pulling out the Kryss, a quick motion to the neck slicing the skin open as I kissed the wound lips and tongue brushing the skin " you are only mine" lowering him down to the floor then, using my fingers closing his eye then " we will be together soon my love, wait only a little longer for me". Craystar Rake was dead, his blood pooling the wood boarding that. I lick my lips of the fresh blood, I need more. I look at the body then curling into it then as I did in life. Tucking in as far as I could laying there, with him " I love you". I sit there for awhile letting the blood soak into my leather, the blood turns cold as it wakes be up. I stand looking at the corpse beside me, Like I had just awoken from a bad dream.
No this was real, he was dead. Rake was dead, my eyes well up with tears then. I look at my hands covered in blood. " I did this" I said then as I look at Rake, he was dead. After everything I did to try and protect him, I killed him. "Oh Avatar am so Sorry Rake, Please please forgive me I..." no there was no point wasting what little left of me there was. Getting up I look at him before going through his bags, finding the twin black bow to my own. Slinging it over my shoulder. And the black key, the only thing he gave me. Picking up the key I hold it close to my chest then, it hurt so much. Why does a broken heart hurt so much, no it wasn't broken it was empty. The rot of betrayal growing and feeding on me.
How much further do I have to go?
I get up putting the key in my bag and pick up his body in a fireman like posture and leave the building. Going out to a clearing, I get some wood and place it around his body. "No They will not have you Rake" opening my lantern I pour some of the oil out and over his body and the wood. Lighting the oil as I step back. The fire starting to feed on flesh and oil bone and organ. The flames dancing in the night, the heat offers me very little comfort. I was more cold, alone, empty now then ever before. The skin peals away from bone and bone turns to ash. The fire dies down before flickering out. I hold the black keep in my bag tightly, " I am sorry my Love for my Betrayal" I leave then back to my dark empty room then. Covered in his Blood, the key close to what little of my heart beats.
How much longer until I finally know?
Jake having gone out to the forest far west on his own managing to find of of the bandits camps, Finding one of the bandits talking among each other. The name Chester dropped as they get ready for night fall. Knowing this was the target for the bounty Jake, entering the camp. They turn shocked to see him and attack him. Blocking most of the swings with his heavy shield knocking them down before coming to the leader. A short exchange of blows later Chester lays dead and Jake collects the head with a swing of axe. Leaving back into the wooded area to see if he can find the other bounty.
It wasn't even a full day after Rake was banished, free and alive. Or as alive as I've come to see him as, only hours later I found him in the forest where his banishment started. To my eyes did not fool me, as much as I wish they had lied to me. He was talking with them, The red robed one and the armored one. I didn't over hear much but I kept my distance, ' Master' he kept calling them 'master'. I had mix emotions by this point here, I knew that he had talked with them and made a deal just as I have. The armored one, turned to me in the shadows, I could feel those black holes burning into me. I froze, he called my name out. The shadows that hide me, were gone as I was left there looking at the three of them. Frozen, in fear or hate I don't know at the time.
I didn't know what to do, run away seemed like the simplest thing to do for any sane person but seeing him there looking for me in the dark. Human eyes that weren't used to the shadows like mine are, what happened next still got me thinking about it even now. They gave him a axe and told him to prove his worth to them, still frozen but to a different emotion. Confusion and betrayal. I watch him stumble around the axe swinging at the air, the building, and the ground looking for me to sink that blade into flesh. Though he had not pierced me with the axe blade he pierced me else where, the pain only grew.
Look at me, you may think you see, Who I really am but you'll never know me...
I must have blacked out after that, a feeling of free falling into darkness, but there was no fear no sorrow. Back in the real world, it felt like time had stopped when it was only a few seconds. A flash of blinding light then, a room lights up. My eyes focus then seeing the room and the two figures in front of me. A whimpering sound beside me, I look over and see Rake there frozen just as I was. I look back to the undead then, from there it went down hill. They told us to fight, and the winner will earn the gift. My mind was blank, by body reaction without me as I pull my dagger on rake and turn to him. The fear on his face, I hesitate. It's a lie, I tell myself he's just covering for his own life. You are worthless, let him kill you and be done with it.
My blade turns to ash, their voices fill the room then. It was a game to them, that was clear then. They were toying with us, trying to get us to kill each other for their amusement. Everything told me to just do it, but I couldn't not then. A cold touch then surrounds me, my leather shell was gone. I felt weak and open for the first time in a long time, I remained looking at Rake. They tell us to fight tooth and nail, they want it without metal or extra skin. Rake was the first to react a slow weakened punch, directed at me. I pause for a second, there was that pain again. Blocking it with my forearm, before sweeping out his legs putting him on the stone floor. My foot on his throat, a little pressure and I could have broken his neck, I still couldn't.
I looked down at him, that fake fear still there. It had to be fake, it was all fake. He will kill me if given the chance just kill him now and be done with it. I remove my boot then and look to the undead again, I refuse to take another life just for their amusement. They seemed displeased, it put a grin on my face. They make a bet now, pawns we were both just pawn in their little game. The loser would lose their soul to the victors 'master'. I should have expected this next part, it's happened to me so many times before. The shadow move within the room forming shadow figures. My world then reduced to shadow, yet I felt safe there my mind was at ease. My body once more reacted without me throwing the first attack on the nearest shadow.
Every day it's as if I play a part, Now I see if I wear a mask...
Next was expected, I lost. Yes I should have been terrified that I lost knowing the price, but I wasn't. Why wasn't I afraid to lose my soul, become a empty husk. Maybe because I am already am and am just looking for a meaning to exist now. The shadows fell back to the floor, my 'master' seemed displeased with me then. Rake's 'master' on the other hand was happy, my soul now belongs to him. He just needs to collect it. I kneel for the first time between those two defeated, my head hung in a bow. Why did it feel right, maybe it's because I understand what the amour one wanted from me now. Silence, unable to form words. I listen and watch, we get given another chance to prove ourselves who is worth the gift.
I must serve them, they offer me meaning and a existence. I look at Rake one last time before they vanish into shadow. He looks at me a emotion on his face I would never have thought I seen before or would ever see again. The locked door swings open, at our feet black bows. I collect mine and leave as Rake calls out my name, I don't look back. When I got to town I entered it. I feel more alone now then before, isolated, forgotten. I need to leave town, so I do so and go out to the inn. I hear the unmistakable animal slaughter then before going to see the sheep pen knowing what it was. The black robed man, there in the pen killing the sheep and goats. And there was Rake, as I approach both the undead and Rake look at me.
Oddly enough the Undead didn't attack as I made no movement to attack it, I just felt empty. Rake and I leave to go find him something to try and stay in for what ever life he has left in his life. And we found something that he could stay in, it wasn't much but it would have to do for now. We then get talking about the event that just happened before a women comes storming in, the black robed one following her in. She quickly escaped through the back window leaving me and Rake with the undead. Play, it kept saying. Another undead that just wanted to play with human lives, but again I felt nothing. Rake cowers beside me before moving back, the undead seemed to have been ignored me. Drawn to fear or something else Rake was giving off, I didn't care. Why didn't I care, I felt nothing but empty.
Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?...
The undead moves closer as rake moves more and more behind me, coward. No I should be doing that as well trying to escape from this undead fight back in a losing battle. I did the unthinkable, pulling out my blade I run it across my palm. The undead's attention snaps to me, drawn by the promise of fresh blood. I tell Rake to leave around the undead, as I hold me hand out to it. Rake runs, without a second thought. I watch the undead then sniff my hand, it's jaw opens and it's rotting tongue touching the wound. I expect infection, but still empty feelings as I listen to it sucking the blood away. Wanting it to just kill me, it then told me to leave when it was done. I start to before it follows me to the door, not attacking me just watching me.
Empty it was as empty as I was, I look at it felt no pity or fear just nothing. The glint of something in it's one eye, I leave to find Rake hiding in the trees. He looks at me then Hew at my back, a lost creature. I tell him I need to lead Hew else where then here. So I take us to the forest and kill a deer for it. It digs face first into the meat, ripping skin and fur from the muscles. Ripping at it like a animal on blood lust, I felt envy for it then. I don't know why, a hunger and a need started to bloom inside. I turn to leave before going back to where Rake was waiting, leaving Hew in the forest. Where he went from there I don't care. We talk a little more before a ill feeling washing over us both, something was there watching us. I don't care.
When all was said and done I left to go get some food and water, also leaving behind what needs to be. I plan to stick to at least one choice I made in life. Going back to the hide out I hear Rake in the other room, as I enter he looks at me as I look back. We sit in silence for some time before I break the silence, silence was safety. I leave then, go back to my room where it's dark. Shadows welcoming me back as I blow out the single light in my room. I lay in the bed looking at the clean bandage over the wound, was it infected? I don't know. Rolling over in the bed I try and sleep, something that's been coming harder and harder to me. I know what needs to be done, one of us is going to die. One to rot away to a empty husk of blood lust and hunger. The other mere food or dust. I will give up what ever is left of me to serve and do what needs to be done, I know this now. I accept the fate that the Guardian has for me.
Must there be a secret me I'm forced to hide?...
((Inspired from the song Three Days Grace- Get Out Alive ))
The head of a Lurd
Both Meriel and Jake go to the orc for to the north, thinking that would be the only place to hide a troll for this long. There guess was correct. Thining out the orcs they lead The target Out from The fort and resume the killing of it. Once the body lays dead on the ground, Jake having to take many swings at the think neck to remove the head. Collecting the head to give in for Bounty.
((Bonus))
Meriel's wonderfull 20min fight with the Oger Lord. Pelting it with Arrows before slipping away out of reach of the massive club. Knowing she can't take the hits as arrow pirce hide many many times. bringing down the beat at last.
I got a interesting suggestion regarding the 'smart' undead and this bounty thing that Tom has going.
Have a bounty on the undead as well as they have been causing just as much trouble for the town as the rest of these bounties. Make it like a 150g per kill. It encourage a greater risk reward between the two factions. As this will effect both parties, the humans having to weight the chance of getting hurt or killed by the undead for a nice amount of gold that can they can use to better arm themselves at the union prices and helps circulate gold a little better. While The undead, maybe not seeming to care about it will have maybe a little more interaction with people then just solo playing to the point they might have to better organised themselves into groups.
Now, with the undead if they are killed. What can the human's take as proof, people think their weapons that they use. Well with the last rp I saw, no one wants to touch their cursed gear. Now as I was thinking other then that is try and have the undead 'spawn' in with a stone or a bone or something that the human's can collect as the proof of the 'kill'.
this being said I would hope this would encourage;
more a risk reward system
more interaction and rp between the two factions, then just the undead hunting us
more gold being used and spent (with the union prices from the trades men) to better hunt the undead with
and of course the town getting better set for the coming doom, now that they have proved them selfs (or not) against the undead force.
Has the head of one;
Sid Flint
Wanted for robbery.
found outside the inn along the road with other brigands, was able to draw him out of the gang and slay him in front of the inn outside of town. Body parts scatter the road, Meriel enjoying the mutilation of the corpse.
also have head of one;
Daniel Bret
Wanted for robbery
Hidden away in the far off forest surrounded by a hoard of undead, he himself was also undead. On slaying the zombie Meriel comes across a note on the body reading.
" I can't tell them I've been bit. not yet. We've been doing well with the raids , am sure I'll have enough to buy treatment. Just have to wait a little longer."
end of note, Meriel burns the corpses carefully.
Add one;
Lester Denman
Wanted for murder.
Was found in the undead keep along the coastline, Jake and Meriel through hard fought battles mange to reach the last room. There they found the bounty locked away like some animal. Jake quickly putting him out of his misery and removing the head. A book falling out of the corpse. It's pages, the man simply wondering why he was taken there by a mystery figure and why he wasn't able to leave. Both Jake and Meriel leave the way back they came.
Willard Keates:
Jake and Meriel saw him walking around town with a large amount of gold, when they tried to ask him some question he started to throw punches at the two. Both Meriel and Jake subdue him and move him down to the safe house for holdings. Learn that his wife was murdered by the undead, the man then falls into a pit of grief and flails about. To the point of biting his own tongue off, he later dies. They burn the body outside where Jake had found the wife's body nights before.
Had a blast with great rp, and expecting events that played out.
